Collection Update #1

Wow, so the college fashion show is coming up in what... 8 weeks and things are already starting to get a bit crazy. I spent last week sawing, filing and melting to create the main part of my collection which are four huge collars.

I'm really happy with them, and glad I chose to use acrylic even if they have set me back £80 and have generally just been awkward. I'm keeping the plastic backing on until the morning of the show to avoid them getting scratched, they wont actually say PERSPEXBLAHBLAH on the catwalk :] Oh! And yeah I know they're not technically collars, they're jackets, but that's only because it was a lot more simple to make them 'free standing' rather than having to attempt to attach them to a dress.

(Recognise the shape of the back? That's Mr. Bathocyroe right there.)

Meow

I'm pretty much in love with Miu Miu's SS/10 collection. I think the prints are really fantastic, cute cats, pretty swallows, flowers and naked women all feature in a mix of pastel shades contrasted against black. The main items within the collection include high waisted trousers, bolero jackets and sleeveless shirts and shoes. These have to be the best shoes in the world right now, I'd be tempted to save up for them if I didn't have September to worry about!

London, Old Street.

So last Thursday I went to London for an interview and found some bits and bobs...

Curtain Road, London

This poster caught my eye due to it being a campain poster that didn't seem to swing towards either Labour or Conservative, which I found odd as they are the main players in the upcoming election. After having a peek at the Robin Hood Tax website I'm amused at how good this idea is.

What's not to like? As little as 0.005% tax on banks, hedge funds and financial institutions which can go towards poverty and climate change. I also feel that their campaign video is awesome, and really gets their message across.

I also aquired this unusual leaflet, I only found out about the unusual drawing on the back when I got home, really haven't got a clue what it's all about, other than that the leaflet was for an exhibition that night.

Well it's about time...

I made a blog. I've been meaning to make a blog for a while now, mostly as a place to throw any inspirational things I find along with my own progress with projects and such, oh! And of course my views on current trends and collections.

I should probably add that I'm a fashion student from the UK, hoping to end up somewhere in the Fashion Industry in a few years time.
As for the name, Bathocyroe, it's the Latin name of a creature that has taken over my life since Christmas when I started designing my final collection for the college fashion show. He's the main inspiration and he is beautiful.
